RT8048为高效率，脉波宽度调变(PWM)的降压型 DC/DC 转换器，可输入范围2.5V 至5.5V，输出电流可达1A，适用于由单一锂电池供电的可携式电子装置，例如移动电话、PDA等掌上型装置。RT8048具有两种操作模式：可自动切换PWM/低压差 操作状态的工作模式与关机模式。由于内建低R<sub>DS(ON)</sub的同步整流元件，可大幅减低操作在PWM模式时的电流导通损耗。此外，不需外加萧特基二极管于实际设计中。RT8048当PWM操作时无法连续导通上端P-MOSFET时，进入低压降模式。当EN脚位为低电位时，进入关机模式，消耗电流小于0.1μA。由于操作在恒定频率3MHz，切换纹波可由较小封装的元件进行滤波设计
